As a tourism operator and a business Basecamp Explorer’s main focus is to leave a positive footprint. To ensure this we have implemented groundbreaking natural resource management schemes including a state of the art grid system and bio-flush toilets. Through Basecamp Foundation, our not-for-profit partner organization, we operate numerous community projects with the shared object of fundamentally improving the lives of the Maasai people. Through our holistic approach we seek to empower the Maasai community by raising awareness and creating opportunities for development. During your stay with us we want to involve you in this critical endeavor by introducing you to our projects and their beneficiaries. This includes visiting schools, clinics, boreholes and our very own Fairtrade certified beading enterprise, the Basecamp Maasai Brand.
We believe that all travellers are potential philanthropists and that we together can ‘transform lives through tourism’. As a Basecamp visitor we want to show you the beauty of the Maasai culture, but also the challenges they face. Travellers who visit Basecamp make an important contribution that directly benefits the Maasai people. As a tourism operator we want to encourage people to search knowledge and contact free from cultural boundaries. At our Basecamps you will interact with the Maasai people in a honest, personal and transformative way.
